A Western Australia park pass covers entry to participating parks for your vehicle. Camping is charged separately, per person, and a pass does not reserve a campsite. If you are planning several park visits, compare the pass prices with the days you would otherwise pay for.

What does a day visit cost?
At parks charging the standard entry fee, the price depends on your vehicle and the number of people in it.

Keep your receipt. Standard day entry covers other participating parks on the same day. Walking or cycling in is free under the standard entry system. Separate attraction charges can still apply.
For private vehicles carrying 13 or more people, Yanchep and Nambung each require their own entry payment.
Not every park charges for entry. Check the official fee list for the places on your route. DBCA is Western Australia's Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions. At an entrance station, follow the payment instructions and carry some cash as well as a card; change may not be available.
Which park pass should you buy?
Holiday and All Parks passes cover eligible park entry for one private vehicle carrying up to 12 people, including the driver. The separately charged places listed later in this guide are excluded.

Choose the start date carefully. A five-day pass is a continuous period, not five separate visits spread across a longer holiday.

When does a pass save money?
These comparisons use the full $17 vehicle day-entry rate. Count days when you would actually need to pay, not the number of parks on your itinerary.

A shorter pass may still be cheaper if all your visits fit within it. If you qualify for concessions, compare the pass with your reduced day-entry rate.
Two paid day trips within five days cost $34, so the $30 pass saves $4. Two participating parks on the same day already share one standard day payment.
Buying and using your pass
Buy online through WA Naturally or from a listed sales outlet. For a car or campervan, print the pass and display it where it can be read through the windscreen. A PDF kept only on your phone does not replace that display requirement.
If you do not yet know your rental vehicle's registration, the pass shop says to enter Hire Vehicle. For a campsite booking, choose To be confirmed if the registration is unknown, then update it by your arrival date. Campsite booking conditions.

An annual pass can list a second vehicle owned by you or your spouse and registered at the same address. Only one listed vehicle can use the pass at a time. Passes cannot be shared between travelling households. See pass conditions.
Local passes and discounts
The Annual Local Park Pass costs $30 and covers a specified park or local group of parks for eligible residents and ratepayers. Check the parks and eligibility.
The $18 Yanchep offer is limited to City of Wanneroo residents, with a limited allocation and proof of residency required. It is not the standard price for everyone visiting Yanchep. Check the residents' offer.
Concessions require an eligible Australian-issued card or qualifying payment. Being over a certain age, holding a foreign pension card or being a student does not by itself qualify you. Health Care Cards alone are not accepted. An accompanying carer of a Companion Card holder can receive a fee waiver where charges are per person. Check accepted concessions.
RAC members should compare the RAC pass offer before paying full price. Purchase through its member shop and check the final price, including processing charges.
How much does camping cost?
The usual DBCA camping rates below are per person, per night. Children aged five and under camp free but must still be included in the booking.

Some places have different rates, including Purnululu, Bandilngan (Windjana Gorge), Wunaamin, Dirk Hartog Island and Mitchell Falls. Check the named campground before budgeting. View the camping fee schedule.
Where standard park entry applies, campers pay it once for a continuous stay in the same park. Leaving and returning during that stay does not mean paying again. Camping itself is charged every night. See entry rules for campers.
A simple camping budget
Dales Campground in Karijini charges $15 per adult per night. For two adults staying three nights in one car, without a pass or concession:

If you already have a valid park pass, the camping part is still $90. Buying a $30 pass solely for this stay would cost more than paying the $17 entry fee. A pass may make sense if you also plan other paid park visits.
How to book a campsite
Use the official Park Stay WA booking service. Before choosing a site, make a short list of what you need: dates, people, vehicle type and length, and any toilet or access requirements.
- Read the campground page and check that your vehicle and equipment will fit.
- Search using the people and vehicles actually travelling, including any caravan or trailer.
- Check how entry will be paid. If you already hold a valid pass, remove the park-entry payment option where offered.
- Complete payment and save the confirmation offline. Check its arrival and departure instructions before travelling.

When do bookings open?
For bookable campgrounds outside the Ningaloo Coast World Heritage Area, the normal opening time is midnight AWST, 180 days before arrival. AWST is Perth time, UTC+8.
Ningaloo Coast uses monthly releases, on the first Tuesday of the month at 10am AWST. Do not use the ordinary daily 180-day rule for these campsites. Check the current booking arrangements.

Later release blocks can have adjusted boundaries around weekends and school holidays. Check the official calendar for your dates.
On release day, joining the queue before 10am does not improve your position. Positions are allocated randomly when bookings open. Use one browser tab on one device and avoid refreshing. Ningaloo booking instructions.
Rules that can affect your plans
- An empty campsite may already be booked. At campgrounds that require reservations, get a confirmed booking before setting up. Booking conditions.
- Groups need separate bookings. If your friends need another site, they must book it themselves. Neighbouring sites are not guaranteed. Group camping.
- A booking is not transferable. You cannot sell or give it to someone else. There is no official waiting list; check again for cancellations. Booking help.
- Length-of-stay limits apply by park. The usual limit is 14 nights if any night falls within WA public school holidays, or 28 nights otherwise. Check your campground for any shorter limit. Example of the standard stay limits.
- A reservation may not assign a particular pitch. At Lucky Bay in Cape Le Grand, book your stay first, then choose a vacant campsite on arrival. Lucky Bay booking details.
- Some campgrounds cannot be booked. Have another option in mind and carry the correct cash where required. A park pass does not guarantee a vacant campsite. Where and when to camp.
Changing or cancelling a booking
Use My bookings to change or cancel before 11.59pm AWST on the day before arrival. If you cannot come on your arrival day, contact the park office using the details on your confirmation. Booking help.
A fee may apply for every night you remove, including when you move a booking to different dates. For each removed night and site, the charge is one person's concession camping rate. Outside the applicable grace period, cancel more than 14 days before a peak-period night, or more than five days before any other night, to avoid that charge. Peak periods depend on the campground. Before you drive out
Check Park Alerts and the campground's own page shortly before departure. A paid booking does not mean a road will remain open.
Camp only in designated areas unless you have specific approval. Check the site's drinking-water supply, toilets, generator rules and vehicle access. Where a self-contained toilet is required, arrive with the right equipment. Camping facilities.
Fire rules vary by place and season. An existing fire pit is not permission to light a fire. Check current restrictions and Emergency WA. Campfire rules.
Do not assume you can bring a dog. Pets are generally excluded, with designated exceptions and separate provisions for approved assistance animals. Check the animal rules before booking.
Before leaving town, save your booking confirmation and maps offline, display your pass if you have one, and choose a backup place to stay.
