Overview
Kalbarri has a solid range of accommodation for a town of its size, from well-run caravan parks to self-contained apartment complexes and a handful of boutique properties. Advance booking is essential from July through October. Wildflower season fills the town, and Easter is consistently booked out months ahead. Outside these peaks, walk-in availability is generally fine.
Caravan Parks and Camping
Kalbarri National Park itself has no campgrounds. The town has several caravan parks, all within walking distance of the river and town centre. The Kalbarri Anchorage Holiday Village is the largest and best equipped, with powered and unpowered sites, cabins and camp kitchen. Murchison River Caravan Park sits directly on the river foreshore. Both accept campers and campervans. Book ahead from July to October.
Free camping is not permitted in or immediately around Kalbarri town. The nearest free camping areas are at the Murchison River mouth (check current regulations with the visitor centre) or further north. Kalbarri makes an excellent campervan hub for the gorge and coastal sections of the national park.
Self-Contained Apartments and Units
The bulk of Kalbarri's visitor accommodation is self-contained apartments and holiday units. Well suited to the destination since most visitors are cooking for themselves after long days in the national park. The Kalbarri Seafront Villas, Anchorage Bungalows and several smaller complexes offer kitchen-equipped units from around A$150 per night. The Kalbarri Beach Resort has the best position on the headland above Red Bluff with ocean views and a pool. Compare prices directly with properties, as online booking platforms add fees.
Hotels and Motels
The Kalbarri Edge Resort is the largest hotel-style property, with motel rooms and self-contained units. Pelican Shore Villas is popular for families. The Kalbarri Palm Resort offers motel rooms in a tropical garden setting. All are within 10 minutes' walk of the town centre restaurants and shops.
Budget
The Kalbarri Backpackers YHA on Porter Street is the main budget option. Clean, well-maintained and well-located. Dorm beds from around A$35, private rooms available. Book ahead in season.
